Salt of the Gilded Sea
In Salt of the Gilded Sea, I wanted to honor the sacred power of salt; its ability to cleanse, preserve, and purify not just the body, but the spirit. Salt, especially sea salt, has long been a symbol of healing, ritual, and renewal, and in this piece, it becomes the bridge between earth and soul.
This painting speaks to the quiet strength of nature, the calm, steady rhythm of ocean tides that wash away what no longer serves us, and the light that follows. The gold leafing represents not only the glow of sunlight on the sea, but the inner gold that emerges when we let our hearts soften and purify. It’s a reflection of luxury, not in the material sense, but in the spiritual richness that comes from clarity, presence, and connection.
The interplay of texture was intentional. I created a contrast between the matte white sand — raw, minimal, grounding — and the glossy gold — luminous, decadent, transcendent. It reflects the tension between humility and opulence, stillness and radiance. Like the seafoam at dusk, this piece holds both quiet and gleam.
Everything used in this painting is rooted in nature and reverence. The textures evoke warm coastal shores, while the soft resin glaze over crystalline highlights gives the feeling of something preserved, something timeless. It’s a meditation on cleansing, of the body, the space, and the heart.
This piece belongs in a space where peace, intention, and natural elegance are treasured. For collectors, interior designers, or anyone creating a sanctuary, Salt of the Gilded Sea offers more than art, it offers a frequency.
